[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyunjung] U.S. President Joe Biden announced sanctions on the 1st (local time) banning Russian aircraft from flying in U.S. airspace. He emphasized that Vladimir Putin, President of Russia, is more isolated from the world than ever due to his misjudgment.
In his first State of the Union address at the joint session of Congress on the same day, President Biden said, "Tonight, together with our allies, we will ban all Russian aircraft from flying in U.S. airspace, further isolate Russia, and impose economic sanctions."
He added, "Putin is more isolated from the world than ever," praising the unity of the "freedom-loving countries," including the U.S., in response to Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
He stressed, "We have countered Russia's lies with the truth, and because he (Putin) continues his actions, we are holding him accountable."
President Biden then intensified his criticism of the Russian oligarchy, saying, "The West is targeting your unjust gains."
