Active Police Officer Takes Extreme Measures at Seodaemun-gu Police Substation Where He Worked
Officer A, Known as an 8-Year Veteran Police Officer
[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Gyumin] A current police officer who had been assigned to a police substation for less than a month made an extreme choice using a firearm at his workplace, and the police are investigating.
According to the police on the 28th, at around 11:28 PM the previous day, Corporal A (28) was found dead at a police substation under the jurisdiction of the Seodaemun Police Station in Seoul. A used the firearm he had while on duty to take his own life in the waiting room.
A was discovered by a fellow police officer who heard the gunshot and rushed over from the adjacent room where they were waiting.
A received cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and was transported to a nearby hospital but passed away around 11:58 PM that day.
According to the police, A was an 8-year veteran police officer and had been assigned to the substation for less than a month.

A police official said, “A note saying ‘Sorry to my family’ was found on A’s cellphone,” adding, “The exact circumstances and cause of the incident are under investigation.”
