[Jeju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Park Chang-won] On the 27th, 10 days before the 20th presidential election, Lee Nak-yeon, the General Election Committee Chairman of the Democratic Party of Korea, who visited Jeju, appealed to vote for presidential candidate Lee Jae-myung, saying, "For the Democratic Party of Korea to complete compensation for Jeju 4·3 within five years, it must take responsibility for the government."

At the rally that day, Jeju district lawmakers Song Jae-ho, Oh Young-hoon, and Wi Seong-gon, who belong to the Democratic Party, as well as Jeju provincial council members, participated together.

At the all-out rally held at Jeju City Folk Five-Day Market, Chairman Lee said, “Coming to Jeju, I truly feel that spring is arriving early. I hope this year's spring in Jeju will be a tearless spring with the resolution of 4·3. Together with lawmakers Song Jae-ho, Oh Young-hoon, and Wi Seong-gon, who have worked hard to resolve 4·3, the Democratic Party will complete the compensation issue within the next five years,” urging support for candidate Lee.

Additionally, Chairman Lee said, "Jeju has special circumstances different from the mainland," and "Before coming here, I visited the Jeju sewage treatment plant. As tourists and population increase, the sewage treatment capacity must be expanded and modernized, and the Democratic Party will take responsibility and resolve this," promising action.

Chairman Lee evaluated that candidate Lee and the Democratic Party are ahead of other candidates in terms of political and government experience.

He said, "When you are unsure about choosing a candidate, you can look at the party's policies and the candidate's experience," adding, "The Democratic Party is the party for the working class and middle class, and Lee Jae-myung is the candidate who has done that work."

He continued, "We must quickly end the suffering caused by COVID-19," and said, "Although insufficient, those who have been evaluated as doing better than other countries and have such experience are the ones who should take charge of the government. If you entrust a boat to someone who has never rowed, you don't know whether the boat will go to the mountain or the field."

Chairman Lee targeted the People Power Party's attack that the Democratic Party's security awareness is unstable, saying, "Those who think peace will come by loudly talking about security," and added, "In fact, the Cheonan sinking occurred during the Lee Myung-bak administration, and there were no military clashes during the Moon Jae-in administration."

Meanwhile, Chairman Lee visited the Jeju Public Sewage Treatment Plant in the morning, held a meeting with executives of the Honam Association, and then visited Seogwipo Maeil Olle Market and Jeju Dongmun Market consecutively to carry out campaign activities.
