According to the Gyeonggi Nambu Police Agency on the 21st, around 9:20 PM on the 18th, a woman identified as Ms. A, living in Dongtan New Town, Hwaseong City, called 112 and recited her address, then said, "Please deliver a large bulgogi pizza."
The call was answered by Sergeant Kim Jeong-ui, who has been working at the 112 Security Comprehensive Situation Room for three years. At first, he thought it was a wrong call, but when he heard a man's voice next to the caller, he instinctively realized the woman was asking for help.
Sergeant Kim immediately issued a 'Code 0' (a response order issued when a violent crime suspect must be caught in the act) and continued the conversation with Ms. A, pretending to be a pizza delivery worker by saying, "I will confirm the exact address."
The police identified the caller's location and arrived at the scene within seven minutes of receiving the report.
After separating the perpetrator and the victim for investigation, the police confirmed the occurrence of domestic violence and arrested Ms. A's husband at the scene.
Park Ki-seong, head of the 112 Security Comprehensive Situation Room at the Gyeonggi Nambu Police Agency, said, "This case is similar to a past incident where a sexual crime victim called 112 saying 'I want to eat jjajangmyeon' to seek help," adding, "112 staff do not overlook any words from callers and listen carefully to their statements, responding actively."
Previously, on April 11 last year, four consecutive calls were received at the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency 112 Situation Room. The woman who made the calls said little or only said "motel" briefly in the first three calls. However, in the subsequent call, she said, "Dad, I called because I want to eat jjajangmyeon."
