Daejeon City to Implement 6 Projects for Urban Railway Convenience Facility Improvements
[Asia Economy (Daejeon) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] Daejeon City announced on the 21st that it will begin improvement projects for convenience facilities at six urban railway stations starting next month.
The improvement projects, selected as resident participation budget projects, include ▲installation of non-slip stair treads at subway station stairs ▲provision of hot water supply in subway station restrooms ▲maintenance of old tile walls in subway stations ▲installation of Hi-Pass type turnstiles at subway stations ▲installation of Pink Light seats for pregnant women in subway stations ▲installation of digital galleries in subway stations, with a total project budget of 790 million KRW.
First, the city will install non-slip stair treads at the exits of 22 stations where rainwater frequently enters, to prevent pedestrian safety accidents.
Additionally, to ensure that transportation-vulnerable groups such as wheelchair and crutch users can use the urban railway without inconvenience, the city plans to install Hi-Pass type turnstiles that automatically open the gate when a cardholder approaches with a Hi-Pass card.
The city will also promote the Pink Light seat installation project for pregnant women, where when a pregnant woman carrying a transmitter boards the subway, a light will illuminate on the handrail receiver of the seat reserved for pregnant women and a voice guide will be broadcast to indicate the presence of a pregnant passenger.
