Police Refer Delivery Workers' Union Chairman Leading Yeouido Sit-in and Rally in June Last Year for Prosecution
[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Byung-don] The delivery workers' union executive committee, which held a sit-in and large-scale rally in Yeouido, Seoul last June, has been handed over to the prosecution.
On the 20th, the Yeongdeungpo Police Station in Seoul announced that it had sent Chairman Jin Kyung-ho of the delivery workers' union and others to the prosecution without detention on charges of refusing to vacate, related to the union's occupation of the lobby of Yeouido Post Tower on June 14 last year and their sit-in protest.
Previously, the Korea Post and civic groups had filed complaints and accusations against the delivery workers' union for obstruction of business, refusal to vacate, violations of the Infectious Disease Control and Prevention Act, and the Assembly and Demonstration Act.
At that time, about 4,000 union members gathered from all over the country conducted an overnight protest for two days at Yeouido Park and also occupied the first-floor lobby of Post Tower.

About 120 union members who had been holding a sit-in at Post Tower for three days ended the protest and dispersed on the 16th of the same month after it was announced that the delivery industry labor and management had reached a tentative agreement on a mediation plan to prevent overwork deaths of delivery workers.
