Police Launch Special Crackdown on Industrial Technology Leakage for 8 Months Starting This Month
[Asia Economy Reporter Seongpil Cho] The National Police Agency's National Investigation Headquarters announced on the 20th that it will carry out a "Special Crackdown on Industrial Technology Leakage" from this month until October. The purpose is to prevent the theft of core domestic industrial technologies and personnel, thereby contributing to securing national competitiveness.
The National Investigation Headquarters will deploy all personnel from the Security Investigation Unit directly under the Security Investigation Bureau and the Industrial Technology Protection Investigation Teams of 17 metropolitan and provincial police agencies for this special crackdown. They plan to respond strictly to all crimes related to industrial technology leakage. In this process, investigation teams that crack down on cases involving the leakage of national core technologies overseas will be rewarded with promotions and other incentives.
To strengthen investigative capabilities, the National Investigation Headquarters announced that it will increase dedicated investigative personnel for industrial technology leakage and upgrade some Industrial Technology Protection Investigation Teams in metropolitan and provincial police agencies to investigation unit level. New investigators will be required to complete specialized training courses at the Police Investigation Training Institute, and experts from the private sector will be invited to provide specialized education. Additionally, the Industrial Security Cooperation Officer system, currently operated in four agencies (6 personnel), will be expanded to all metropolitan and provincial police agencies.
