Democratic Party Unilaterally Approves 14 Trillion Won Government Supplementary Budget in Budget Committee
The bill will be presented at the plenary session around the 21st
The supplementary budget bill worth 14 trillion won submitted by the government was processed by the National Assembly's Special Committee on Budget and Accounts. No members from the People Power Party were present in the Budget Committee meeting room, and only members of the Democratic Party participated.
On the 19th at 2:08 a.m., the Democratic Party held a full meeting of the Budget Committee and approved the government's supplementary budget bill worth 14 trillion won. The main point of this supplementary budget is to provide 3 million won in quarantine support funds to 3.2 million self-employed individuals and small business owners.
Since the day before, the Democratic Party had requested Lee Jong-bae, the Budget Committee Chair from the People Power Party, to process the supplementary budget bill, but it did not materialize. The Democratic Party reportedly proceeded with unilateral approval, citing Article 50 of the National Assembly Act, considering that the chairperson refused to conduct the session.
