Ministry of Employment conducts search and seizure at Yeocheon NCC headquarters over 'Yeosu Explosion Accident' (Update)
[Asia Economy Sejong=Reporter Dongwoo Lee] The Ministry of Employment and Labor has launched a search and seizure operation at the headquarters of Yeocheon NCC, where a fatal accident involving eight workers occurred.
According to the Ministry of Employment and Labor on the 18th, the Gwangju Regional Employment and Labor Office has been conducting a search and seizure at the Yeocheon NCC headquarters office since 9 a.m. that day.
Earlier, at around 9:26 a.m. on the 11th, an explosion accident occurred at Yeocheon NCC Plant 3 in Hwachi-dong, Yeosu City. The accident happened due to the detachment of the heat exchanger cover during the heat exchanger airtightness test. Four workers died in the accident, and another four workers present at the site were injured.
The Ministry of Employment and Labor booked the plant manager, who was responsible for safety and health at Yeocheon NCC, on charges of violating the Industrial Safety and Health Act on the 12th, the day after the accident, and conducted a search and seizure of the Yeocheon NCC site office on the 14th.

The Ministry plans to investigate violations of the Industrial Safety and Health Act and the Serious Accident Punishment Act by management officials related to this accident to determine responsibility. A Ministry of Employment and Labor official stated, "We plan to promptly investigate serious industrial accidents and strictly determine responsibility."
