On the 18th, Gyeonggi Province announced that it will support the demolition and roof renovation of 2,637 houses, warehouses, and livestock barns this year to remove asbestos, an environmental hazardous substance that causes respiratory diseases. The province has allocated a total budget of 9.8 billion KRW for this purpose.
Regarding the main support projects, the province will provide up to 3.52 million KRW per house for demolition costs, which is an increase from last year, and up to 3 million KRW for roof renovation. Applications can be submitted by the building owner (or a tenant with the owner's consent) to the environmental department of the city/county/district or the town/village office.
Selected buildings will have demolition and roof renovation work carried out by construction companies designated by the city/county.
