Wanju-gun Presents Military Merit Medals to Korean War Veterans
Delivery to the Family of Late 2nd Lt. Jo Geum-im Who Provided Friendly Treatment and Rear Support
[Wanju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Kim Han-ho] Wanju County announced on the 17th that it presented the Hwarang Military Merit Medal to the bereaved family of the late 2nd Lieutenant Jo Geum-im, a Korean War veteran.
The Military Merit Medal is awarded to those who have participated in combat during wartime or equivalent emergencies and have demonstrated outstanding military merit.
The late 2nd Lieutenant Jo Geum-im is said to have treated wounded allied soldiers and provided rear support during the Korean War, enabling allied forces to participate smoothly in combat.
This award of the Military Merit Medal was discovered through the "Korean War Military Merit Medal Recipient Search Project," and the medal was presented to the bereaved family member, Kook Jung-ha (CEO of Wooshin Industry).
Kook Jung-ha said, "Although a long time has passed, I am grateful to the nation and Wanju County for their efforts to restore the honor of my aunt, who devoted herself to the country."
