GIST Student Jeong Jaeyoung Receives Excellence Award for Materials Science Paper
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Cho Hyung-joo] Jeong Jae-young, a doctoral candidate in the Department of New Materials Engineering at GIST (Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology President Kim Ki-seon) (advisor Park Ji-woong), announced on the 17th that he received the 2022 Excellent Paper Award in the materials field from the Korea Institute of Materials Science.
Student Jeong Jae-young developed a fundamental technology to synthesize single-atom catalysts through the phenomenon where elements ionize and recombine in the high-energy state of an arc, particularly manufacturing single-atom catalysts with nano-carbon-based M-Nx-C structures at a commercial level.
In addition, student Jeong conducted research utilizing high-performance electrochemical catalysts as core materials for hydrogen fuel cells and water electrolysis technologies, and has published research results in numerous internationally renowned journals in the fields of energy, environment, and materials science and technology.

Meanwhile, the Korea Institute of Materials Science has awarded the Excellent Paper Award to a total of 54 outstanding talents from 11 universities since 2003, starting with the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology, to secure top university talents and establish a network hub in the materials field.
