Cyber University Transcripts and Graduation Certificates Also Issued as 'Mobile Electronic Certificates'
From the 16th, 347 Universities Added to Electronic Certificate Issuance for Transcripts and Graduation Certificates
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] From now on, approximately 450,000 current students and graduates of cyber universities nationwide will be able to issue various certificates such as transcripts and graduation certificates as mobile electronic certificates using their smartphones.
On the 15th, the Ministry of the Interior and Safety announced that, in cooperation with Digital Zone and I&Tech, specialized internet certificate issuance companies, it will expand the service to issue certificates from 347 universities, including cyber universities, as mobile electronic certificates starting from the 16th.
Until now, the service to issue university certificates as mobile electronic certificates had been applied to only 20 universities such as Daegu National University of Education and Polytech University, but this time 347 universities including Gongju National University of Education and Konkuk University have been added. As a result, students and graduates of 367 universities can now easily issue 20 types of university certificates such as transcripts, graduation certificates, enrollment certificates, and leave of absence certificates as mobile electronic certificates without the inconvenience of visiting the university or community service center in person or printing paper certificates from internet certificate issuance sites.
In particular, 24 cyber universities including Hanyang Cyber University have been added. Cyber universities provide education by allowing students to attend lectures and obtain degrees via the internet, and are widely used by working professionals seeking re-education, housewives, and those with a high school diploma.
To receive university certificates as mobile electronic certificates, users need to download and install the Government24 app or apps such as Payco and Toss on their smartphones, apply once for the ‘Government Electronic Document Wallet,’ and select ‘Government Electronic Document Wallet’ as the receipt method when applying for certificate issuance on the internet certificate issuance site.
Meanwhile, besides university transcripts and graduation certificates, it has also become possible to submit certificates required for post office deposit subscriptions through the Korea Post’s ‘Post Office Smart Banking’ app, or to issue and submit documents such as traffic accident confirmation certificates electronically through the National Police Agency’s ‘Police Civil Service Mobile’ app.
