Jeong Gi-hwan Appointed as New Chairman of Korea Racing Authority, Former Audit Committee Member
[Asia Economy Sejong=Reporter Kim Hyewon] Jeong Gi-hwan (59), former Standing Auditor of the Korea Racing Authority, has been appointed as the 38th Chairman of the Korea Racing Authority.
Jeong, a graduate of Catholic University, served as the Standing Auditor of the Korea Racing Authority from April 2019 to July last year.
He previously served as a member of the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs Agricultural Policy Reform Committee and the Presidential Policy Planning Committee in 2017, and in 2019, he chaired the Korea Racing Authority's Committee for Clearing Deep-rooted Evils.
The chairman's term is three years, until February 2025.

In February last year, the Korea Racing Authority appointed former lawmaker Kim Woo-nam (67), who served as a member of the 17th, 18th, and 19th National Assembly, as the 37th chairman. However, he was dismissed in October last year due to verbal abuse towards employees who refused his orders to hire his associates. Since then, Vice Chairman Song Cheol-hee has been acting as the chairman.
