A meeting with related organizations regarding the spread of Omicron is being held in Jinju City.
View original image[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Jinju City in Gyeongnam held a meeting with representatives of related organizations and groups to discuss extensive quarantine cooperation measures in response to the rapid spread of the Omicron variant virus.
Jinju City announced on the 9th that it is considering the possibility of daily confirmed cases reaching the 1,000 range within the region due to the recent spread of the variant virus, and discussed measures to respond immediately in case of emergency.
On the 7th, the city held a meeting of heads of related organizations and groups at the city hall situation room to prepare in advance for infection spread and secure cooperation.
The meeting, chaired by Mayor Cho Gyu-il, was attended by four heads of institutions including the Air Force Education Command Commander, Jinju Police Chief, Jinju Office of Education Superintendent, and Jinju Fire Station Chief, as well as three heads of organizations including the Jinju Medical Association President, Jinju Pharmaceutical Association President, and Jinju Sports Council President.
A city quarantine official said, "Confirmed cases are rapidly increasing nationwide and locally at the same time," adding, "Referring to overseas cases, we plan to prepare measures in anticipation of the possibility that the number of confirmed cases may increase more than tenfold in the future."
The city plans to strengthen the cooperation system with medical institutions managing home treatment in preparation for the surge in home-treated patients and their cohabiting family members, and to additionally secure accommodations for cohabiting family members of home-treated patients, which is already underway.
Also, to prevent overload in the designation and operation of public officials dedicated to home-treated patients and self-quarantined individuals, support from the police and fire authorities was requested.
Following the meeting that day, on the afternoon of the 8th, the city held a meeting of related organizations and group representatives at the city hall citizen hall, including seven groups such as the Jinju branch of the Korea Accommodation Business Association, Jinju branch of the Korea Food Service Industry Association, Jinju Social Welfare Council, Jinju Christian Federation, Saam Federation, Jinju Daycare Center Association, and Jinju Volunteer Group Council.
Since the 3rd, the city has also been focusing on securing medical institutions participating in rapid antigen testing in relation to the reorganization of the testing system.
In addition to the existing screening clinics, four hospitals?Goryeo, Jeil, Hanil, and Seoul Children's Hospitals?have been designated and operated as respiratory clinics. Rapid antigen tests and PCR tests are linked, and three additional medical institutions?Ivy Pediatric and Adolescent Clinic, Seoul Internal Medicine Clinic, and Daegok Central Clinic?have been designated as respiratory treatment medical institutions to prevent delays in testing.
