Chungnam Supports 'Prevention Facilities' for Small-Scale Odor Emission Businesses
[Asia Economy (Hongseong) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] Chungnam Province will support the installation and improvement of odor control facilities targeting small-scale odor-emitting businesses within the region.
On the 7th, the province announced that it will promote the "2022 Odor Control Facility Installation and Improvement Support Project" with this purpose.
The project is implemented to reduce odors from odor-emitting businesses in the province, protect the health and living environment of residents, and improve their quality of life.
The support targets small and medium-sized enterprises under the Framework Act on Small and Medium Enterprises that operate odor-emitting facilities in the province, including ▲businesses with frequent odor complaints (odor complaints persisting for more than one year) ▲businesses exceeding emission standards more than twice a year ▲businesses installing or improving odor control facilities even if emissions are below the allowed standards.
This project has been underway since last year, aiming to support a total of 130 sites over five years with a budget of 6.5 billion KRW.
Through the project, last year, odor control facilities were installed at 14 small-scale odor-emitting businesses. This year, with a budget of 300 million KRW, the province plans to support the installation, replacement, and improvement of odor control facilities at 10 businesses.
Selected businesses can cover up to 70% (maximum 35 million KRW) of the installation and improvement costs, up to a maximum of 50 million KRW, through subsidies.
The selection will be finalized by a review committee that evaluates the necessity of support, appropriateness of control facilities, proximity to residential areas, reduction effects, and other factors.
For more detailed information about the project, inquiries can be made to the environmental departments of the respective city or county offices, or by checking the announcement posted on the website.
