Yeongju City has allocated a budget of 65 million KRW to implement the "Eco-friendly Agricultural Product Production Incentive Support Project" to compensate the income of farms practicing eco-friendly agriculture amid difficulties such as decreased consumption and labor supply issues caused by COVID-19.
For organic certification, support is provided at 600,000 KRW per hectare for rice, 800,000 KRW for fruit trees, and 700,000 KRW for vegetables, special crops, and others. For pesticide-free certification, support is provided at 400,000 KRW per hectare for rice, 600,000 KRW for fruit trees, and 500,000 KRW for vegetables, special crops, and others, with amounts varying according to area.
The city expects that the newly implemented production incentive support will improve the production conditions of eco-friendly agricultural products, which require more costs and labor than conventional farming methods, and help maintain the income of eco-friendly farms, thereby contributing to carbon neutrality.
