Yeosu Gwangyang Port Corporation Ensures Winter Concrete Quality through 'Warm House' Curing
Do Not Neglect Concrete Pouring in Midwinter
Catch Two Rabbits of Safety and Quality Through Warm House
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Heo Seon-sik] Yeosu Gwangyang Port Authority (President Park Seong-hyun) announced on the 27th that it has applied ‘Warm House’ concrete curing at construction sites to ensure quality in preparation for cold weather.
‘Warm House’ is a method inspired by the ‘vinyl house’ in rural areas, where after pouring concrete, a cover is placed over it and a heater is installed and operated inside to maintain an appropriate temperature.
An official from the authority stated, “Especially during winter, concrete curing is vulnerable to quality assurance, so until the specified strength is achieved, the Warm House should be equipped and sufficiently insulated, and then thorough checks such as strength tests should be conducted to ensure compliance with construction quality standards before proceeding with construction.”
Choi Sang-heon, Vice President of the authority (Head of Development Business Headquarters), said, “Through the ‘Warm House,’ a safe and sturdy pier will be constructed, and we will continuously strive to ensure quality and safety so that disasters like the Gwangju apartment collapse accident never happen again.” He added, “Ahead of the enforcement of the ‘Serious Accidents Punishment Act’ on the 27th, we will frequently inspect and improve construction sites to protect the lives and safety of construction workers and citizens.”
