On the same day, the Joint Chiefs of Staff announced through a text message notice sent to the press corps, "North Korea launched an unidentified projectile into the East Sea." The Joint Chiefs are currently analyzing the specifications such as the range, altitude, and speed of the projectile.
This projectile launch by North Korea marks the sixth military demonstration since the beginning of the new year, and it occurred two days after launching two projectiles presumed to be cruise missiles on the 25th. Starting with the ballistic missile claimed to be a hypersonic missile launched on the 5th of this month, North Korea has launched ballistic missiles four times in the new year up to the 17th.
