Yeonggwang-gun Holds 'Traditional Market Shopping Event' for Lunar New Year Holiday
[Yeonggwang=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Jeonseong] Yeonggwang-gun, Jeollanam-do recently held a traditional market shopping event at Yeonggwang Terminal Market and Gulbigol Yeonggwang Market to celebrate the Lunar New Year, the county announced on the 26th.
This event was organized to comfort market merchants and small business owners who are struggling due to rapidly changing consumer culture and COVID-19, and to revitalize traditional markets.
Additionally, about 230 public officials purchased ceremonial items and daily necessities using Yeonggwang Love Gift Certificates.
A campaign was conducted to promote the use of traditional markets and Yeonggwang Love Gift Certificates to merchants in the market and surrounding shopping districts, as well as to citizens visiting the market, along with efforts to stabilize holiday prices and implement price labeling systems.
Leaflets providing information on applying for the Yeonggwang-gun Small Business Emergency Disaster Relief Fund were also distributed to promote the business stability of small business owners.
A county official stated, “Due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, consumption has contracted and the local economy has stagnated, causing significant economic damage to market merchants. We hope this event will provide strength to merchants going through difficult times and serve as an opportunity to revitalize the depressed traditional markets.”
