Gyeonggi-do Lunar New Year Holiday Comprehensive Plan... Focus on 'Quarantine, Safety, Welfare, Transportation, and Prices'
[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Gyeonggi Province has prepared and is implementing a 'Comprehensive Plan for the Lunar New Year Holiday' focusing on quarantine, safety, welfare, transportation, and prices.
Oh Byeong-kwon, Acting Governor of Gyeonggi Province, held a video conference on the 24th with deputy heads of 31 cities and counties in the province at the provincial office, urging, "Please carefully manage sector-specific measures such as quarantine and accident prevention so that residents can comfortably spend the Lunar New Year holiday, the nation's biggest traditional holiday, and ensure these are well implemented on site."
Accordingly, the province will operate a 'Lunar New Year Holiday Comprehensive Situation Room' for five days from the 29th of this month to the 2nd of next month. This is a measure to resolve inconveniences for residents. Any inconveniences occurring during the holiday period can be reported to the '120 Gyeonggi Province Call Center.' The 120 Gyeonggi Province Call Center operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. It handles various complaints as well as provides information on traffic and emergency medical institutions.
During this period, the province will establish an emergency work system to respond to COVID-19 infectious diseases and operate 87 screening clinics and 68 temporary screening stations within the province. Additionally, a home treatment promotion team will be formed for continuous management of confirmed cases.
In particular, temporary highway screening stations will be installed and operated for four weeks at three locations: Yongin and Anseong rest areas (from January 24) and Icheon rest area (from January 26). To prepare for emergencies among home-treated patients, outpatient clinics will be opened at 12 locations including Gyeonggi Provincial Medical Center Suwon Hospital and Pyeongtaek Bakae Hospital.
To prevent medical service gaps during the Lunar New Year holiday, a total of 69 emergency medical institutions will be designated, and an emergency medical situation room will be operated during the holiday. Hospitals, clinics, and pharmacies operating during the holiday will be designated and posted on the provincial office website.
To manage price stability during the holiday period, the province will activate a 'Price Stabilization Task Force' and focus on managing major items such as essential goods. Furthermore, to establish fair trade order and protect consumers, inspections on price labeling and origin labeling of frequently consumed items will be strengthened, along with investigations into illegal activities. Discount sales events for excellent agricultural products will also be held. Through the online promotional event Market Gyeonggi's 'Exciting Lunar New Year Planning Exhibition,' agricultural products from the province will be sold at 30-40% lower prices.
The province will also provide customized care services and emergency safety assurance services using Internet of Things (IoT) devices for 79,828 vulnerable elderly living alone during the Lunar New Year holiday. Additionally, for homeless people, holiday food provision, free meals, and strengthened COVID-19 infection control will be promoted.
Furthermore, to support vulnerable groups, consolation money will be delivered to 667 social welfare facilities, and for children at risk of missing meals or needing support due to household members' COVID-19 infection, information on affiliated stores accepting child meal cards will be provided, followed by the provision of substitute foods and staple food vouchers. Moreover, a wage arrears reporting center will be operated to provide counseling on wage arrears and guide procedures for rights protection.
In addition, during the holiday, a 'Special Traffic Measures Situation Room' will be operated to oversee traffic conditions and provide road traffic and bus information. Joint inspections will be conducted by the province, safety management advisory groups, cities/counties, and electric/gas safety corporations to ensure safety management of multi-use buildings. The Gyeonggi Province Fire and Disaster Headquarters and fire stations will enter special alert duty during the holiday period.
