[Asia Economy Reporter Jeong Hyunjin] KOTRA announced that it held the "Korea-Egypt Future and Green Business Roundtable" on the afternoon of the 20th (local time) together with the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Egyptian Businessmen's Federation.

The roundtable was attended by President Moon Jae-in and Prime Minister Mustafa Madbouly, who also serves as Minister of Investment and Administrative Reform, along with Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Moon Seung-wook, KOTRA President Yoo Jung-yeol, POSCO International President Ju Si-bo, who is currently serving as the Chair of the Korea-Egypt Economic Cooperation Committee, Korea Trade Insurance Corporation President Lee In-ho, Export-Import Bank of Korea President Bang Moon-kyu, Hyundai Rotem President Lee Yong-bae, and Myungshin CEO Lee Tae-gyu.

From the Egyptian side, Minister of Trade and Industry Nevin Gamea, Minister of Public Enterprises Hisham Tawfik, Chairman of the Egyptian Businessmen's Federation Ali Helmy Eissa, Chairman of Alkan Holding Khaled Mohamed Nasseir, and Chairman of Mana Pharma Majid Almanshawi attended.

The roundtable, held alongside the signing ceremony for Memorandums of Understanding (MOU) and Letters of Intent (LOI), was attended by over 30 Korean and Egyptian businesspeople and heads of institutions engaged in eco-friendly and future new industries. Based on Egypt's sustainable development strategy, "Egypt Vision 2030," they agreed to discover cooperative projects in eco-friendly and future industries such as electric vehicles, IT, and transportation, thereby strengthening a mutually beneficial partnership between the two countries. They also took the opportunity to establish and reinforce a trade cooperation system between the two countries to respond to global supply chain instability.

Following the roundtable, the signing ceremony resulted in three MOUs and two LOIs. The agreements included a trade and business cooperation MOU, a trade insurance cooperation MOU, a Korea-Egypt seawater desalination development cooperation MOU, and two LOIs for electric vehicle development cooperation.

KOTRA President Yoo Jung-yeol stated, "Egypt is a strategic cooperation partner for Korea as a foothold for entry into the Middle East and North Africa and a global logistics hub. KOTRA will spare no effort to support domestic small and medium-sized enterprises and mid-sized companies entering Egypt in line with Egypt Vision 2030."
