Lotte Chilsung Expands Contactless Table Order Service 'Smart Chabchab' to Over 60 Stores in the Seoul Metropolitan Area
[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] Lotte Chilsung Beverage announced on the 19th that its non-face-to-face table ordering service 'Smart Chabchab,' launched through an in-house venture, is rapidly growing with over 60 operating stores.
'Smart Chabchab' was the final selected item in the 3rd in-house venture of Lotte Chilsung Beverage in 2020. It is a table ordering service that allows customers to order food contactlessly via QR codes.
Existing non-face-to-face services using kiosks, tablets, or dedicated apps have spatial limitations in stores because dedicated devices must be installed on-site. They are also difficult to maintain and manage, and customers who are reluctant to install applications find it inconvenient.
‘Smart Chabchab,’ which converts these drawbacks into a simple QR code authentication method, allows users to scan the QR code attached to the table in the store without installing a separate dedicated app, enabling contactless menu viewing and ordering immediately. Customers do not have to press a call bell and wait for staff, and reordering is also convenient.
Additionally, stores using the service can prevent order-taking errors by staff and improve efficiency by reducing staff movement. Sales data can be easily checked through smartphones.
Kim Nari, manager of the 3rd in-house venture at Lotte Chilsung Beverage, said, “We planned this service aiming to build a smart business environment in line with the untact era. Recently, as one-person startups and owner-chef restaurants have increased, efficient store management has become possible, so the response has been positive.”
Lotte Chilsung Beverage currently operates 'Smart Chabchab' in 60 stores mainly in the Hongdae and Konkuk University commercial districts in the metropolitan area and plans to expand to more stores in the future.
