China's Q4 GDP Grows 4.0%, Exceeding Forecast (Update)
[Asia Economy Reporter Cho Hyun-ui] China's GDP growth rate for the fourth quarter of last year was recorded at 4.0%.
China's National Bureau of Statistics announced on the 17th that "GDP for the fourth quarter of last year increased by 4.0% compared to the same period last year."
Although this is the lowest level in a year and a half since the second quarter of 2020, when the economic shock from COVID-19 was at its peak, it exceeds the market forecast of 3.6% compiled by Bloomberg News.
China's quarterly growth rate last year rose to 18.3% in the first quarter due to the base effect, then dropped sharply to 7.9% in the second quarter and 4.9% in the third quarter, showing a rapid economic slowdown trend.
