Police Conduct Detailed Analysis of Work and Supervision Logs in 'Gwangju Collapse Accident'
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] The police will conduct a detailed analysis of supervision logs and other documents related to the Gwangju apartment collapse accident.
On the 15th, according to the Gwangju Seogu New Apartment Collapse Accident Investigation Headquarters (Gwangju Police Agency), the police conducted a search and seizure at three locations including the onsite office of Hyunsan at the accident site and the supervision office the day before, securing work logs and supervision logs and have begun a detailed analysis.
To verify whether the obtained materials were falsified, they plan to compare them with work and equipment deployment logs from cooperating (subcontracted) companies in the future to determine their authenticity.
The search authorities recovered the body of one of the six missing persons three days after the accident occurred the day before.
The police will conduct an autopsy at the National Forensic Service on the 17th to determine the direct cause of death of the recovered body.
With the first death reported the day before, the police plan to add charges of professional negligence causing death against Hyunsan site manager A (49), the only person currently booked, in addition to the existing violation of the Building Act.
The police, who have imposed travel bans on key related persons and are conducting witness investigations, have secured testimony that the supervisor was not present at the concrete pouring site at the time of the collapse accident but stayed in the onsite office, and are considering additional bookings.
The joint onsite investigation to determine the cause of the accident is expected to be postponed for the time being as the search for the remaining five missing persons and onsite safety measures are underway.
