Lotte Mart, Darijip Tteokbokki 'Popular'... "Sales No.1 in One Week"
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] Lotte Mart announced on the 16th that its private brand (PB) product launched this month, ‘Yorihada Darijip Tteokbokki,’ ranked first in total home meal replacement (HMR) sales within a week of its release.
This product brings the famous Busan specialty ‘Darijip Tteokbokki’ directly to customers’ tables. Darijip is a representative restaurant of authentic Busan-style tteokbokki that evokes nostalgic memories with its garaetteok (cylindrical rice cakes). It features plump garaetteok lightly seasoned in fish cake broth and a rich gochujang sauce.
Lotte Mart’s researchers, product planners (MDs), and manufacturers traveled to Busan to work with the owner of Darijip for several months, continuously revising and developing the product recipe to faithfully reproduce the gochujang sauce containing 40 years of Darijip’s know-how. In particular, the key ingredient of the tteokbokki sauce was made by the Darijip owner himself to preserve the authentic taste. To replicate the Busan-style garaetteok, they searched extensively for capable rice cake manufacturers nationwide.
At the end of this month, Lotte Mart plans to launch a product in collaboration with ‘Mibundang,’ a rice noodle specialty restaurant known for its rich beef brisket broth and generous meat toppings.
