Kakao Entertainment's 'Nahonrep' NFT on Klip Drops Sold Out in 1 Minute
[Asia Economy Reporter Kang Nahum] Kakao Entertainment announced on the 13th that the non-fungible tokens (NFTs) of its flagship intellectual property (IP) "Solo Leveling (Nahongrep)" sold out within one minute of being released on the digital artwork distribution platform Clip Drops.
Nahongrep, which depicts the journey of the weakest protagonist becoming the world's strongest hunter by completing quests like in a role-playing game, is gaining popularity in global markets including North America, Japan, Greater China, and ASEAN.
The NFTs released this time consist of two types: 100 main NFTs featuring scenes from the final episode of Nahongrep and 200 sub NFTs depicting the protagonist Sung Jinwoo as the strongest hunter. The main and sub NFTs were sold for 500 Klay (KLAY) coins and 100 Klay coins respectively. This is interpreted as a synergy effect among users driven by the "14.2 billion views" premium of Nahongrep and the expectations for NFTs as future digital assets.
On the Clip Drops market, where purchased NFTs can be freely traded at desired prices, Nahongrep NFTs are being traded at premium prices. The animating effects applied to enhance the limited edition premium, leveraging the characteristics of digital assets traded online, also contributed to meeting expectations.
Kakao Entertainment plans to expand various businesses centered on premium IPs starting with this NFT release. The company envisions extending the individual IP life cycle beyond the existing secondary creation categories such as movies, dramas, games, and animations. On the 22nd, they will also launch an NFT collection of the webtoon "Empty Shell Duchess" in collaboration with Treasures Club, a domestic NFT generative art specialized project.
