[Asia Economy Reporter Ryu Jeong-min] The Blue House stated that it is not considering former President Moon Jae-in's participation in the Beijing Olympics.
A Blue House official said on the 12th, "Currently, we are not reviewing the issue of former President Moon Jae-in attending the Olympics, and we are reviewing the dispatch of an appropriate delegation based on precedent."
The Blue House official explained, "Our government holds the basic position that the Beijing Winter Olympics, following the 2018 Pyeongchang and 2021 Tokyo Olympics as a relay of Olympic events, is hoped to contribute to peace and prosperity in Northeast Asia and the world, as well as inter-Korean relations."
Regarding the possibility of a non-face-to-face summit between Korea and China, the Blue House stated, "Despite the difficulties posed by COVID-19, there is a consensus to strengthen strategic communication through various means, and related communication is ongoing."
