On the 12th, an Air Force official stated, "According to relevant regulations that allow a general officer commander to recommend posthumous promotion in case of death or sacrifice during combat or operations, the process went through the recommendation of the Suwon Air Base Commander and the review by the Air Force Headquarters Posthumous Promotion Review Committee." He added, "Captain Shim was posthumously promoted one rank to Major."

The funeral hall was set up in the gymnasium within the Suwon base on the same day. The funeral ceremony will take place on the morning of the 14th, after which the deceased will be interred at Daejeon National Cemetery.
