Volkswagen "2022 Passat GT Launches Starting from 43 Million KRW"
[Asia Economy Reporter Changhwan Lee] Volkswagen Korea announced on the 12th that it will launch the ‘2022 Passat GT’ with enhanced product competitiveness.
Volkswagen Korea explained that the 2022 Passat GT adopts the innovative technologies and convenience features of the previous model year while equipping the new EA288 evo engine to improve performance and efficiency, and applies specifications preferred by Korean customers.
The 2022 Passat GT is equipped with the EA288 evo 2.0 TDI engine featuring innovative ‘Twin Dosing Technology.’ Using two SCR catalytic converters, the ‘Twin Dosing Technology’ reduces nitrogen oxides (NOx) by about 80% compared to the previous generation engine, meeting the latest European emission regulation Euro 6d standards.
It boasts a maximum output of 200 horsepower (3600~4100rpm), an increase of 10 horsepower compared to the previous model year, and a maximum torque of 40.8 kg.m that delivers consistent power across a wide practical range of 1750~3500rpm.
The combined fuel efficiency is improved to 15.7 km/l (urban 13.9 km/l, highway 18.6 km/l) for the 2.0 TDI Premium and 2.0 TDI Prestige trims compared to the previous model year.
Additionally, the wheel design of the Premium trim has been changed, and leather seat materials have been used to enhance the premium feel of the 2022 Passat GT.
The Premium model is equipped with 17-inch Soho alloy wheels, creating a more sophisticated look, and the interior seats feature a combination of Vienna leather and ArtVelours, adding dignity to the business sedan.
All trims are equipped with the advanced driver assistance system ‘IQ.Drive,’ including ‘Travel Assist,’ which actively supports driving from start up to speeds of 210 km/h.
The interior offers an advanced digital experience with a standard 10.25-inch high-resolution digital instrument cluster ‘Digital Cockpit Pro’ and the ‘MIB3 Discover Pro’ infotainment system.
Furthermore, to enhance the comfort and convenience of the business sedan, the Prestige model and above are equipped with front ventilated seats and rear heated seats, which are preferred features among domestic consumers. Top-level convenience features such as a head-up display, heated steering wheel, panoramic sunroof, and 30-color ambient lighting are also included.
The price of the 2022 Passat GT with enhanced product competitiveness is 43,126,000 KRW for the Premium, 49,017,000 KRW for the Prestige, and 51,471,000 KRW for the Prestige 4Motion (including 3.5% reduced individual consumption tax and VAT).
Additionally, a used car trade-in compensation program ‘Trade-In’ is offered as a January promotion benefit, allowing customers to receive up to 3 million KRW when selling their existing vehicle through Volkswagen certified used cars.
