The Gyeongnam City and County Council Chairpersons' Association is composed of chairpersons from 18 city and county councils and meets monthly. All 18 chairpersons attended this meeting to discuss current issues and exchange major legislative activities of their respective cities and counties.
In his welcoming remarks, Bae Mong-hee, Chairperson of Hapcheon County Council, said, “A generation has passed since the revival of local councils, and with the revised Local Autonomy Act, a full-fledged era of local autonomy has begun.” He added, “There is still a long way to go until the true completion of local autonomy, so I hope today’s gathering will serve as a communication platform for the development of local councils and become a meaningful time to mature local autonomy to the next level.”
At the meeting, the association awarded the Legislative Service Grand Prize to Choi Jeong-ok, a member of Hapcheon County Council, in recognition of exemplary legislative activities and remarkable efforts in the development of local autonomy among basic council members in the Gyeongnam region. Additionally, a plaque of appreciation was presented to Ji Tae-jeong, administrative officer of Hapcheon County Council, for dedicated service in legislative work.

In participation with social distancing measures to prevent COVID-19, the association did not hold a meal event but instead conducted welfare facility visits, delivering daily necessities worth 1 million KRW to the Hapcheon Atomic Bomb Victims Welfare Center and Hapcheon Aeyukwon.
