'Lee Jae-myung Lawyer Fee Payment Suspicion' Whistleblower Found Dead in First Audio Transcript Report
[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Byung-don] Lee Jae-myung, the Democratic Party presidential candidate, has been linked to a ‘lawyer fee payment suspicion’ through a recorded transcript first reported by a Mr. Lee, who was found dead, prompting the police to launch an investigation.
The Yangcheon Police Station in Seoul announced on the 12th that Mr. Lee was found dead at a motel in Yangcheon-gu at around 8:40 PM on the 11th and that an investigation is underway.
It is known that no suicide note or similar documents were found at the scene, and the police plan to investigate the exact cause of death through an autopsy and other means.
Meanwhile, Mr. Lee was the person who reported the related recorded transcript to a civic group, claiming that Attorney Lee, who handled the candidate’s Public Official Election Act violation case in 2018, received 300 million KRW in cash and 2 billion KRW worth of listed company stocks as legal fees.

Based on this, the civic group filed a complaint with the prosecution accusing the candidate, who had mentioned that the legal team’s fees were less than 300 million KRW at the time, of false information disclosure.
