Chain Infections Continue in Educational and Welfare Facilities... 158 Confirmed Cases in Gwangju on the 11th
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Jo Hyung-joo] Sporadic COVID-19 infections are continuing through various routes such as nursing hospitals and elementary schools in the Gwangju area.
According to Gwangju Metropolitan City on the 12th, 158 people tested positive for COVID-19 the previous day and were classified as confirmed cases number 9091 to 9248 in Gwangju.
Infections related to a nursing hospital located in Dong-gu increased by 14 on the day, raising the cumulative confirmed cases to 91.
The first confirmed case at this nursing hospital occurred on December 24 last year, and although the quarantine authorities placed the 11th floor of the hospital under cohort isolation, confirmed cases continued to occur during the isolation.
Recently, confirmed cases also occurred on two other floors, prompting the quarantine authorities to conduct additional cohort isolations.
In Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju, 32 people at a nursing facility, 5 at an elementary school, and 3 at a manufacturing company were confirmed positive.
At a daycare center in Seo-gu, 12 new confirmed cases were reported. Two confirmed cases each were reported at a nursing hospital in Nam-gu and a kindergarten in Gwangsan-gu.
Sixteen people in Seoul, Daejeon, and Jeonnam regions were confirmed positive after contact with family or acquaintances.

The rest were related to previously confirmed cases, and most of them were found to have been infected through contact with confirmed cases whose infection routes were unclear.
