In an interview with Kukmin Ilbo on the 9th, former Chairman Kim said, "What is the point of talking about the past?" He made this statement in response to speculation within the PPP, including from Representative Lee Jun-seok, about his possible return, expressing a negative stance directly.
When asked if he had any intention of rejoining the election committee, former Chairman Kim replied, "I have already said everything before," adding, "What more do you want to ask?"
It is known that former Chairman Kim has not had any separate contact with candidate Yoon Seok-yeol since their split. When asked if there was a possibility of meeting candidate Yoon, he retorted, "It has already happened, so would he come to see me?"
However, former Chairman Kim left some room regarding Representative Lee, saying, "If he comes to see me, I will meet him."
Meanwhile, candidate Yoon announced on the 5th that he would dissolve the existing election committee and reorganize it into a practical election headquarters. This move is interpreted as an attempt to find a breakthrough through reform by reorganizing the election headquarters system amid growing crisis due to internal party strife and declining approval ratings with about 60 days left until the presidential election.

In response, former Chairman Kim expressed his intention to resign from the election committee on the same day. In a phone call with Yonhap News Agency, former Chairman Kim said, "The reorganization of the election committee is to win the presidential election, but they are talking nonsense like a coup or a regent. If the intentions don't match, we part ways." This appeared to show his discomfort with media reports that candidate Yoon called former Chairman Kim's unilateral announcement of the election committee reorganization a "coup" the day before. He added, "I was forced into the election committee, so there is no need to have regrets."
