According to the LA Times on the 5th (local time), the COVID testing authorities in LA County announced that a teenager residing in the county was confirmed to be infected with Flurona. The authorities reported that the teenager recently traveled to Mexico with family and tested positive for both influenza and coronavirus four days ago.
The authorities stated that the teenager had not received either the COVID vaccine or the flu vaccine. Other family members of the teenager also tested positive for COVID-19. The authorities warned, "This is the first Flurona case reported in LA County," adding, "The infected teenager is recovering at home without severe symptoms, but Flurona can be problematic for patients with underlying conditions or weakened immune systems."
