Namwon Gugak Arts High School, Korea University and Other Prestigious Metropolitan Universities Achieve Massive Admissions Success
[Namwon=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Jeong Young-gwon] Jeonbuk Namwon Gugak Arts High School announced on the 4th that it achieved remarkable results by producing a large number of successful applicants to prestigious universities in the Seoul metropolitan area, including Korea University, in the 2021 academic year college entrance exams.
In the 2021 academic year early admission, 29 students were accepted to metropolitan area universities: 2 to Korea National University of Arts, 2 to Korea University, 2 to Ewha Womans University, 1 to Sookmyung Women’s University, 2 to Hanyang University, 2 to Chung-Ang University, 1 to Kyung Hee University, 3 to Dankook University, 1 to Konkuk University, and 1 to Gyeongin National University of Education.
They also achieved great success with 31 students admitted to national universities such as Jeonbuk National University (14), Chonnam National University (8), Pusan National University (5), and Kyungpook National University (2), as well as 30 students admitted to other four-year universities including Dong-Ah Institute of Media and Arts (2).
In particular, all students in the departments of Gugak Vocal Music, Gugak Instrumental Music, and Dance were admitted through early admission, marking the best entrance exam results since the school’s founding, and good results are expected in the regular admission as well.
Namwon Gugak Arts High School has recently won awards such as the Grand Prize at the 6th Sejong National Gugak Competition, the Grand Prize at the 41st Onnara Gugak Contest, and the 18th Seoul International Dance Competition through the relentless efforts of teachers and the operation of an original curriculum.
In August last year, student Ko Ye-ji, majoring in Pansori, appeared as the main character in the five-part series of KBS1’s cultural program ‘Human Theater,’ which helped promote Namwon Gugak Arts High School nationwide.
Additionally, last year, 16 external scholarships totaling 40 million KRW, including the Northeast Church Scholarship, were awarded to students.
Facility projects are also underway with support of 2.08 billion KRW, including the construction of a multipurpose auditorium, purchase of library books, remodeling of the science lab, student council room, and English-only classrooms, transforming the school into one of the nation’s leading arts high schools.
