Gyeonggi-do Fire Department Sergeants Kim Jong-ho and Kim Seung-beom Receive 'Proud Firefighter Award'
[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Firefighters in Gyeonggi Province who rescued a citizen who fell into the sea during a family trip and have been secretly sponsoring a Vietnamese child in difficult circumstances for eight years received the 'Proud Firefighter Award.'
The Gyeonggi Provincial Fire and Disaster Headquarters announced on the 4th that Kim Jong-ho (34), a fire sergeant belonging to the Headquarters Rescue and First Aid Division, and Kim Seung-beom (34), a firefighter from Yongin Fire Station, each received the Field Activity Merit Award and the Good Deed Activity Merit Award, respectively, at the 'Proud Firefighter Award' hosted by the National Fire Agency.
Fire Sergeant Kim Jong-ho, who received the Field Activity Merit Award, rescued a traveler who slipped and fell into the sea at a beach breakwater while visiting Jeju Island with his family on December 12 last year. Kim's good deed became known after the woman he helped posted a message on the National Fire Agency's website praise corner.
Firefighter Kim Seung-beom, who received the Good Deed Activity Merit Award, has been quietly sponsoring a Vietnamese child facing financial hardship for eight years since 2014, touching many hearts. In 2017, Kim personally visited Vietnam to deliver school supplies and other items.
