Samsung Electronics Unveils New Products Including Gaming Monitors at CES 2022
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyewon] Samsung Electronics will unveil a large number of new monitor products to be released this year at 'CES 2022,' held from the 5th to the 7th (local time) in Las Vegas, USA. The new monitor products showcased at this CES are scheduled to be launched in the global market, including Korea, in the first half of this year.
The representative products are ▲gaming monitor ‘Odyssey Neo G8’ ▲‘Smart Monitor M8’ equipped with a dedicated camera to maximize user convenience ▲high-resolution monitor S8 for graphic work.
The Odyssey Neo G8, introduced by Samsung Electronics at CES 2022, features a 32-inch size, 4K resolution (3840x2160), and a curved design with a 1000R curvature, applying ‘Quantum Mini LED’ technology.
This product uses ‘Quantum Mini LED’ as a light source, which is 1/40th the size of conventional LEDs, the same as the Odyssey Neo G9, and is equipped with Samsung’s proprietary image quality control technology ‘Quantum Matrix’ and ‘Quantum HDR 2000’ supporting a maximum brightness of 2000 nits. In addition, it controls screen brightness in 4096 steps (12-bit) to realize an industry-leading fixed contrast ratio of 1,000,000:1.
Additionally, it includes ▲two HDMI 2.1 ports ▲one DisplayPort 1.4 ▲‘CoreSync’ function that automatically recognizes the screen color and matches the lighting and color on the back of the product ▲gaming-related convenience features such as ‘Auto Source Switch+,’ which automatically recognizes IT devices like game consoles when connected to the monitor or powered on and switches to the corresponding device’s screen.
Samsung Electronics will also introduce the 32-inch 2022 UHD Smart Monitor M8.
The Smart Monitor is a new concept display equipped with Smart Hub, allowing users to easily enjoy various OTT services and document creation without the need for a separate PC or TV connection, creating a new screen market.
The 2022 Smart Monitor M8 features evolved convenience functions and a slim design compared to previous models. It provides a dedicated video camera that can be easily attached and detached magnetically and comes pre-installed with video solution apps such as Google Duo, enabling users to conveniently work from home and hold remote meetings in home and office spaces.
It also features Samsung’s proprietary IoT hub, allowing the Smart Monitor to be used as the main screen for building a home IoT system. Users can monitor the status of IoT devices throughout the home via the monitor and remotely control lighting and home appliances through the SmartThings app even while watching content.
The 2022 Smart Monitor also boasts a new design. It applies an ultra-slim design of 11.4mm, which is one-third thinner than before, enabling efficient space utilization, and the warm white color provides a soft feel.
It is equipped with a HAS (Height Adjustable Stand) stand that allows users to adjust the screen to their eye level.
Samsung Electronics will unveil the new high-resolution monitor S8 model optimized for creators and designers who perform long hours of graphic work. The Samsung high-resolution monitor S8 (32 and 27 inches) is the world’s first monitor to receive the anti-glare (Glare Free) certification from UL (Underwriters Laboratories) and newly applies a matte display that minimizes light reflection.
It also supports ▲98% color gamut based on DCI-P3 ▲VESA DisplayHDR™ 600 certification (32-inch) ▲wired LAN support ▲USB Type-C that enables 90W charging and data transfer simultaneously, offering the best image quality and various convenience features.
