Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries: "Join the Youth Fishing Boat Rental Program"
[Sejong=Asia Economy Reporter Kwon Haeyoung] The Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries announced on the 28th that it is recruiting young fishers who want to participate in the 'Youth Fishing Vessel Rental Project,' which rents idle fishing vessels at low cost, as well as existing fishers who want to rent out their vessels.
The Youth Fishing Vessel Rental Project is a program where existing fishers who can no longer engage in fishing activities due to old age, illness, or other reasons rent their vessels to young people through the Korea Fisheries Resources Agency.
The Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries explained that, through consultations with local governments and fishers, a total of 10 vessels, including 7 in Jeonnam and 3 in Jeonbuk, will be rented to young people through this pilot project.
Anyone under the age of 49 who holds a small vessel operator license or a grade 6 or higher marine engineer (navigation) qualification can apply for the Youth Fishing Vessel Rental Project. If there are many applicants, priority will be given to youth under the age of 39.
Those who wish to participate can apply from the 10th to the 28th of next month through the Korea Fisheries Resources Agency website or by mail. The Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries will select 20 candidates through a first document screening and a second interview, and then finalize 10 participants through fishing practice education and a final evaluation at the Return-to-Fishing School.
