High-resolution images taken by the national land satellite will be made available to the public starting today.
The National Geographic Information Institute announced that 183 orthorectified satellite images captured by 'National Land Satellite 1,' launched in March this year, will be released on the National Land Information Platform from the 27th.
Orthorectified satellite images are corrected for distortions caused by terrain relief such as height differences and tilting seen in satellite images, and transformed to show all objects as if viewed vertically from above.
Until now, the use of high-resolution satellite images has been limited due to security regulations that restricted online disclosure and distribution. According to national spatial information security regulations, high-resolution satellite images containing coordinate information were classified as restricted materials.
However, through a dedicated distribution system for the national land satellite established on the National Land Information Platform, orthorectified satellite images with coordinate information removed are provided online, allowing users to select and download only the types of large-volume data they want.
Additionally, offline distribution policies have been established to provide orthorectified satellite images containing coordinate information and large-volume data.
The orthorectified satellite images are provided along with supplementary information such as shooting status, and future images will be processed into distributable formats and continuously released on the National Land Information Platform.
The National Geographic Information Institute will also continue to improve user download environments and image quality to provide high-quality orthorectified satellite image services.
