Enhancing Mobility Rights for Transportation-Disadvantaged... Busan City Holds 'A City Where Transportation-Disadvantaged Are Also Happy! Declaration Ceremony'
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Trainee Reporter Hwang Du-yeol] On the 23rd, Busan City held the ‘Happy City for Transportation-Disadvantaged People, Busan! Declaration Ceremony’ at Sajik Auxiliary Stadium.
The declaration ceremony was organized as an opportunity to publicly proclaim ‘Busan, a city where even transportation-disadvantaged people are happy.’
The event was attended by Lee Byung-jin, Deputy Mayor of Busan City; Park In-ho, Acting Chairman of Busan Facilities Corporation; and Cho Chang-yong, President of the Busan Federation of the Disabled, among others.
The city purchased an additional 25 Duribal vehicles to enhance mobility convenience for transportation-disadvantaged people and handed over the vehicles to the entrusted operating agency, Busan Facilities Corporation.
The event proceeded in the order of ▲Duribal handover ceremony ▲Reading of the declaration ‘Busan, a city where transportation-disadvantaged people are happy!’ ▲Award and plaque presentation ceremony ▲Duribal test drive experience and parade.
At the Duribal handover ceremony, Deputy Mayor Lee Byung-jin handed over the keys of the new Duribal vehicles to Acting Chairman Park In-ho, officially transferring the 25 newly purchased Duribal vehicles to Busan Facilities Corporation.
Transportation-disadvantaged people and Duribal welfare managers took turns reading the ‘Busan, a city where transportation-disadvantaged people are happy! Declaration,’ reaffirming their commitment to a future co-created by both service users and providers.
During the award and plaque presentation ceremony, seven individuals who contributed to the operation of special transportation means to improve mobility convenience for transportation-disadvantaged people received commendations from the Mayor of Busan.
The Busan Federation of the Disabled also presented a plaque of appreciation to express gratitude for Busan City’s policy efforts to enhance transportation rights for the disadvantaged and to request continued interest.
At the end, a city parade featuring the 25 newly introduced Duribal vehicles was held to announce their operation, and Deputy Mayor Lee Byung-jin and Chairman Park In-ho of Busan Facilities Corporation experienced the role of ‘one-day managers’ by assisting disabled passengers boarding the Duribal vehicles.

Deputy Mayor Lee Byung-jin stated, “Taking this declaration ceremony as an opportunity, we will continuously increase the number of vehicles annually and replace old vehicles to ensure that transportation-disadvantaged people can enjoy their right to mobility in a safe and comfortable environment.”
