[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The Seoul Metropolitan Autonomous Police Committee announced on the 12th that it will hold the "Seoul-style Autonomous Police Policy Idea Contest" from the 15th of this month until January 19th of next year to improve local security services and develop security policies involving resident participation.
The contest themes are closely related to the daily lives of local residents: ▲Living Safety ▲Protection of Socially Vulnerable Groups (women, youth, children, elderly, etc.) ▲Traffic Safety.
Participants can propose policy ideas to enhance neighborhood security services in each category.
There are no restrictions on eligibility; anyone can participate by submitting their entries via email by January 19th of next year. Both individuals and groups (teams) of up to five members can participate.
A total of 24 works will be selected through preliminary and final evaluations, and the 24 selected individuals (teams) will receive gift certificates worth a total of 5 million KRW. The winning entries will be announced on February 9th next year on the committee’s website, and the winning works will be utilized for the establishment of Seoul-style security policies and related policy research in the future. Kim Hak-bae, Chairperson of the Seoul Metropolitan Autonomous Police Committee, said, "We have prepared this contest so that residents can participate as the main agents of security administration through the newly launched Autonomous Police Committee," and added, "We ask for the public’s great interest and participation so that various policy ideas tailored to local characteristics can emerge."
