Wanju-gun Opens Era of 500 Billion KRW National Budget

[Wanju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Han-ho] Wanju County announced on the 10th that by securing a national budget of 506.8 billion KRW for next year, it has opened the era of 500 billion KRW for the first time in history.

Wanju County's national budget secured increased from 321.5 billion KRW in 2018 to 362.3 billion KRW the following year, and recorded 416.5 billion KRW in 2019, opening the 400 billion KRW era.

It has now opened the 500 billion KRW era after two years.

Also, it surged by 55.5 billion KRW, or 12.3%, compared to the previous year's national budget of 451.3 billion KRW.

By sector, the national budget secured for education and welfare was 156.6 billion KRW, an increase of 14 billion KRW (9.8%) from the previous year, followed by 147 billion KRW for resident life infrastructure, up 24 billion KRW (19.5%).

In particular, the national budget related to industrial economy and jobs secured 68.4 billion KRW, an increase of 12.8 billion KRW (23.0%) from the previous year, showing a high growth rate. It is evaluated as having laid the groundwork for creating new growth engines such as fostering the hydrogen economy and expanding infrastructure for attracting companies.

Additionally, the national budgets related to agriculture and rural areas and environment were 48.5 billion KRW and 47.4 billion KRW respectively, with culture, tourism, and sports at 19.5 billion KRW, and disaster safety at 19.4 billion KRW.

Especially, Wanju County secured budgets for 21 new projects out of 59 key projects that it has been focusing on for national budget acquisition, with a total national and local government budget secured of 25.3 billion KRW.

Major new projects with national budget secured for 2022 include △112 billion KRW for the construction of the Hydrogen Products Inspection Support Center △200 million KRW for facility improvement of Soyang~Dongsang National Road No. 55 △3.9 billion KRW for the Used Fuel Cell Infrastructure Establishment and Manufacturing Support Project △4 billion KRW for the Public Sector Carbon Neutral Model Discovery Project △1 billion KRW for the establishment of the Renewable Energy-linked Energy Storage System (ESS) Safety Evaluation Center △400 million KRW for the construction of the Family-friendly Sambong Public Library, among others.

In addition, 80 million KRW in national funds for excavation surveys of the Chonam Yi Seongji area and 1.1 billion KRW for the construction of the Jeonbuk Cultural Heritage Research Center are expected to serve as seed money for future cultural tourism revitalization.

Furthermore, the 500 million KRW expansion project for the Soyang Public Sewage Treatment Facility and the 500 million KRW renovation project for the aging sewage pipelines in the Samnye treatment area are also meaningful as they lay the foundation for stable national budget acquisition in the future.
