Jeongeup-si Successfully Concludes 'Small Community Idea Presentation Contest'

[Jeongeup=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Kim Jaegil] The Community Revitalization Center of Jeongeup City, Jeonbuk Province, announced on the 8th that it held the ‘Small-scale Community Idea Presentation Contest’ on the 7th at the 5th-floor conference room of Jeongeup City Hall.

At this contest, about 70 people, including representatives and members of 10 small-scale communities who applied for next year’s Citizen Idea Contest, attended and shared their community project plans.

Community representatives and members attracted attention with their passionate competition and harmony, and sincerely answered the judges’ questions.

The judging panel, composed of experts, conducted a fair evaluation and finally selected 6 communities and conditionally selected 1 community.

These 7 communities plan to participate in the Jeongeup-style Village Making Citizen Idea Contest starting January next year and lead changes and development in the local community through active activities.

Additionally, the Community Revitalization Center will support the communities with expert consulting and project funds for one year starting next January to help them faithfully execute their project plans and establish a foundation for self-reliance.

The Citizen Idea Contest is a community revitalization program that proceeds through education, training, and implementation stages to enable citizens and communities to directly realize their ideas.

It is a contest that supports residents in proposing and directly implementing solutions or ideas for various problems they face in daily life, aiming to improve citizens’ quality of life and create vibrant local communities.

Started in 2012 and ongoing for 10 years, the city systematically supports communities discovered and nurtured through the Citizen Idea Contest to settle in the region and grow sustainably.

Mayor Yoo Jin-seop said, “I ask local residents to play a pivotal role in positive changes in the community by feeling happiness through community activities,” and added, “Jeongeup City will do its best to strengthen the self-reliance foundation of communities through step-by-step and customized support.”
