Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism & Korea Tourism Organization Select 8 Outstanding Companies for '2020 Worker Vacation Support Project'
[Asia Economy Reporter Donghyun Choi] The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Tourism Organization announced on the 25th that they have selected eight outstanding participating companies among more than 11,000 companies that participated in the 2020 Worker Vacation Support Project.
Now in its fourth year, the Worker Vacation Support Project is a program that supports domestic travel for workers by jointly accumulating funds from workers (200,000 KRW), companies (100,000 KRW), and the government (100,000 KRW). Following 20,000 participants (2,441 companies) in 2018, 80,000 participants (7,518 companies) in 2019, and approximately 96,000 participants (11,931 companies) in 2020, this year about 84,000 participants (approximately 8,500 companies as of November), including small business owners, small and medium-sized enterprises, mid-sized companies, non-profit private organizations, social welfare facilities and corporations, and medical institutions, are participating.
The outstanding participating companies were selected through expert evaluations on improving vacation culture and votes from participating workers. The Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Award was given to Eduwill and LICT, while the Korea Tourism Organization President’s Award was presented to HNDream, Tide Square, JM Tech, ImmunMed, Brothers B Co., Ltd., and Tomato Kindergarten.
Eduwill, which received the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Award, established a leading corporate culture pursuing work-life balance through company-specific vacation encouragement policies such as a four-day workweek for all employees, flexible working hours, and focused rest time, along with the introduction of the Worker Vacation Support Project. LICT increased worker participation and satisfaction by fully covering the workers’ personal contribution fees in this year’s Worker Vacation Support Project.
The 2020 Worker Vacation Support Project Outstanding Participating Companies Award Ceremony and Workshop will be held offline at the Korea Press Center today, with about 50 attendees including representatives from the awarded companies. Company representatives and workers participating in the project can also join the workshop and award ceremony via the Worker Vacation Support Project YouTube channel and Zoom.
Meanwhile, the workshop for participating workers and company representatives held alongside the award ceremony will share the achievements of the Worker Vacation Support Project so far and include a special lecture on ESG corporate management by author Huh Yoo-jung, who wrote "I Want to Be a Harmless Person in the World."
