Road Traffic Authority, Analysis of the Last 5 Years
Average 84 Accidents and 2.5 Deaths per Day
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Gwan-joo] It has been revealed that the most truck traffic accidents occur in November, requiring drivers to exercise special caution.
The Korea Road Traffic Authority announced on the 24th that an analysis of the characteristics of monthly truck traffic accidents over the past five years (2016?2020) confirmed this. The average daily number of truck traffic accidents in November was 84, which is 13.5% higher than the usual 74 cases.
In particular, the fatality rate of truck traffic accidents (number of deaths per 100 traffic accidents) was 3.1, nearly twice as high as the overall accident fatality rate of 1.7. The times of day when truck traffic accidents occurred most frequently throughout the year were between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m., and between 10 a.m. and 12 p.m.
The Authority urged adherence to the seven truck safety rules: ▲ No speeding or running red lights ▲ Always maintain a safe distance between vehicles ▲ No drunk or reckless driving ▲ Take a break every two hours during long drives ▲ No use of mobile phones while driving ▲ Avoid sudden braking and reduce speed when it rains or snows ▲ Secure cargo firmly to prevent it from falling.
