Woori Technology Acquires 'Ap-hae Wind Power Plant'... "Accelerating Offshore Wind Power Business"
[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Hyun-seok] WooRi Technology's subsidiary CGO has acquired the 'Aphae Wind Power Plant' in Shinan, Jeollanam-do, the central region of the Green New Deal offshore wind power industry. This acquisition is expected to give a significant boost to WooRi Technology's offshore wind power business growth.
WooRi Technology announced on the 24th that its subsidiary CGO has acquired 100% of the shares of the 'Aphae Wind Power Plant,' which is promoting the Aphae offshore wind power project.
They acquired 100% of the shares of the Aphae offshore wind power project, which holds a power generation business permit for 40MW (2MW x 20 units). The acquisition amount is 7.5 billion KRW, and a change permit to increase the power generation capacity of Aphae offshore wind power to 80MW (5MW x 16 units) is currently underway. Upon completion of the permit, an additional 7.5 billion KRW will be paid through an additional contract.
The Aphae offshore wind power project is planned to be constructed on the coastal public waters of Aphae-eup, Shinan-gun, Jeollanam-do. It has already obtained a power generation business permit for 40MW (2MW x 20 units) and is in the process of obtaining a business change permit to increase the power generation capacity to 80MW (5MW x 16 units).
The potential offshore wind power capacity in the Shinan-gun area of Jeollanam-do is 12.4GW, which accounts for 37% of the national total of 33.2GW. This is why the Shinan-gun area is considered the optimal location for offshore wind power generation. The Jeollanam-do provincial government is promoting the establishment of the Shinan offshore wind power complex as a core strategy of the 'Jeonnam-type Regional Balanced New Deal' and the 'Blue Energy Project.'

A CGO official stated, "The Aphae Wind Power Plant is expected to begin construction in early the year after next after obtaining the change permit and completing related procedures, and CGO will be responsible for offshore construction, including the operation of specialized installation vessels." He added, "This acquisition is expected to accelerate the offshore wind power business, and we will expand the business by strengthening technology development."
