3Q This Year Honam Region Construction Orders Decrease by 20%
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] In the third quarter of this year, investment indicators in the Honam region deteriorated, while production, exports, and employment showed improvement.
According to the 'Regional Economic Trends' announced by the Honam Regional Statistics Office on the 22nd, the construction order amount, an investment indicator in the Honam region, was 4.0844 trillion won. Although orders for building construction increased, orders for civil engineering works decreased, resulting in a 20.1% decline compared to the same quarter last year.
The industrial production index was 98.2, increasing by 3.8% due to growth in chemical products and primary metals.
Exports amounted to 17.3 billion dollars, showing a 38.4% increase driven by strong performance in steel plates and others, while imports reached 13.5 billion dollars, rising by 71.8%.
The employment rate improved among those aged 40 and above, recording 62.4%, up by 0.9 percentage points, and the number of employed persons increased by 43,000 to 2,721,000, mainly in business, personal, public services, and other sectors.
The unemployment rate fell by 0.4 percentage points to 1.9%, and the number of unemployed decreased to 52,000 across all age groups.
The Honam region experienced a net outflow of 5,126 people, with more people moving out than moving in, primarily among those in their teens to thirties.
