[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Hyowon] Studio Santa Claus is soaring following news that the Netflix series "Hellbound," starring Studio Santa Claus actor Ryu Kyungsoo, has reached number one worldwide.
As of 9:17 AM on the 22nd, Studio Santa Claus shares are trading at 3,285 KRW, up 9.14% from the previous day.
According to FlixPatrol.com, a U.S.-based site that tracks rankings for OTT (Over the Top) platforms, "Hellbound" ranked first globally in the Netflix TV show category on the 20th (local time). Until the day before, "Squid Game" held the top spot. This is the first time a Korean Netflix drama has topped the global charts since "Squid Game."
"Hellbound" is a six-episode drama based on the webtoon of the same name released in 2019 by director Yeon and writer Choi Gyu-seok. The story depicts an unknown entity appearing one day to predict people's deaths, and the events that unfold as those prophecies come true.
