Prosecutors Raid Democratic Party Policy Research Office Over Alleged Ministry of Gender Equality Election Pledge Development Scandal
[Asia Economy Reporter Jeon Jinyoung] The prosecution conducted a search and seizure at the Democratic Party Policy Research Office on the 19th in connection with allegations of the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family developing presidential election pledges for the Democratic Party.
According to the National Assembly and others, the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office dispatched seven prosecutors and investigators to the Democratic Party Policy Research Office in the National Assembly Members' Office Building in Yeouido at around 9:54 a.m. on the same day to carry out the search and seizure.
The prosecution is reported to have secured materials related to a specialist from the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family concerning violations of the Public Official Election Act.

Earlier, on the 12th, the Central Election Commission had filed a complaint with the Supreme Prosecutors' Office against two officials from the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family. At the time of the complaint, the Ministry issued a press release stating, "The meeting in question was for developing mid- to long-term policy tasks," and added, "We have thoroughly clarified during the Election Commission's investigation that there was no violation of the election law."
